CELESTIA

STORY BRANDING & BOOKLET DESIGN

OVERVIEW

The story of Mangan's Celestia is a very interesting and wacky tale. I worked on this as a self directed project as i was fascinated at what he tried to achieve and the lengths he went to starting up his own nation.

After reading an article about micro-nations I stumbled on to the story of Celestia. Co-founded by James T. Mangan in 1948 he claimed the entirety of the universe as his own nation. Reading into the story of Mangan was very interesting and his initial plan was to create this nation in an effort to secure it as clean and free place to live. Away from pollution & War. Restricting governments from claiming it as their own. In the end, the legacy of Mangan died and very few people know of his efforts. He even created passports and a currency for the 19,059 members that joined him.

At this point I decided it would be best to produce an awareness publication telling the story of Mangan’s efforts to ensure a place for humanity. I branded the story of Celestia to make it apparent that we are all a part of something greater.
